Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS ought to be enough to seal straight passage to the last 16, particularly following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in match.
A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were outmatched against a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
